Pet-Friendly Events This Summer

May 26, 2016

Summer has finally arrived and boy are we ready for it. Like us, we’re sure you’ve been cooped up all winter long, anxious to get outside. The wait is over! Hooray for summer! It’s short and it’s sweet, filled with festivals, concerts, marathons and sunscreen. We’re so excited.

You know who else can’t wait to get outside in the sunshine? Your best four-legged buddy. Your dog enjoys summer just as much as you do, and you both love to have the chance to go adventuring together. Taking your dog with you to your favourite summer events, however, can sometimes be a challenge. Perhaps you’ve been training for a race all spring by going running with your dog each morning. Wouldn’t it be great to have your pup by your side when game time arrives?

We want to help you and your pets enjoy all the summer fun as much as possible. That’s why we’ve compiled some awesome pet-friendly events below. Don’t forget the sunscreen!

Summer Pet Fest

Nutrience is a proud sponsor of Canada’s largest outdoor pet festival Summer Pet Fest, taking place June 25-26. Each day from 10am-5pm at Toronto’s Downsview Park, pet owners and their dogs can enjoy many pet-geared events and over 100 vendors offering pet products and services. Highlights include Aquadogs Dock Diving, Woofjocks Canine Allstars, the Birds of Prey event and a Reptilia Mobile Zoo. The best part? The event is free for the whole family! Visit the Summer Pet Fest website for more information:

The West coast’s largest pet festival will spend July and August touring through Calgary, Victoria and Vancouver. Beginning in Calgary July 23-24, the event then moves on to Victoria August 13-14, finishing in Vancouver on August 28. Free for pets and pet owners, the event includes treats, food, accessories and toy samples, as well as plenty of fun, pet-friendly events – agility demonstrations, aqua dogs, a bulldog race, photo-ops – this event has it all! Ruff Mudder

Ruff Mudder is a 5km canine obstacle adventure race that you and your dog navigate together! The event, taking place on August 21 in Stayner, Ontario, is organized by a team of dog experts. The team is made up of Dr. Tai, a veterinarian and owner of Abernant Vet Services where the event will be held, Cayra DeLuna, a paramedic and fitness programmer, and Kelly Doner, a professional dog trainer.
