Doggie Pupcakes with Peanut Butter-Yogurt Frosting

Baking homemade treats for your best buddy is a great way to spend a weekend afternoon. It’s especially fun to treat your pup when there’s an occasion to celebrate, like your pet’s birthday. Pupcakes are a great celebratory treat that your dog will love. They’re a nice change from traditional crunchy dog biscuits and just as delicious.

We found a great pupcake recipe from the Brown Eyed Baker, made to celebrate her dog Einstein’s 7th birthday. We can tell by the photos she posted that Einstein was very pleased with his treat.

Doggie Pupcakes with Peanut Butter-Yogurt Frosting


1/2 cup whole-wheat flour (can substitute if wheat sensitive)

1 teaspoon baking powder

1/3 cup vegetable oil

1/3 cup unsweetened applesauce

1 egg

2 tablespoons honey

For Frosting:

3 tablespoons Greek yogurt

1½ tablespoons creamy peanut butter


  1. Preheat oven to 350ºF. Line 6 wells of a standard muffin tin with paper or liners, or spray with non-stick cooking spray.
  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour and baking powder. Add the vegetable oil, applesauce, egg, and honey, and whisk gently to combine. Pour mixture into the muffin tin wells and bake 10-15 minutes.
  1. To make the frosting, stir together yogurt and peanut butter. Spread on top of each pupcake once they’ve cooled. Pupcakes can be kept for up to three days in the refrigerator.
