Healthy homemade dog food made of applesApple picking season has begun and the smell of apple pies and custards is in the air… and definitely going unnoticed by your pup! Did you know that apples are a safe and healthy treat for your dog? So while you’re cutting up apples for your pie, save some slices to make this yummy and healthy homemade treat we’re sure your dog will love. Add this homemade dog food recipe to the list of healthy treats for your pet:

Ingredient

  • 1 apple, thinly sliced (make sure there are no seeds)

How to make it

Pre-heat your oven to 175° F. Wash the apple and remove the core before cutting thin slices. Lay the apple slices on a baking sheet and let them dehydrate in the oven for about 5 to 6 hours. Once done, let the slices cool before storing them in an airtight container.

If sealed properly in a cool and dry place, these apple bites can be kept for about 6 months. If you’re planning to store them longer, keep them in the freezer.

Healthy, homemade, and yummy!
